Google for Startups Names Leader Jewels Burks Solomon

PartPic Founder Jewel Burks Solomon Named Head of Google for Startups

Entrepreneur Jewel Burks Solomon has been named the first Head of Google for Startups, a newly formed role charged with leveling the playing field for startup founders and communities to succeed and connect with the best of Google’s products, connections, and practices. Solomon will oversee the national organization from the Google office in Atlanta.

“My main priority in this role is helping startups grow — particularly startups founded by underrepresented entrepreneurs,” Solomon said to American Inno. “At the top of my list will be meeting with startup founders, locally and across the U.S., to understand the needs of their businesses and how I can best help them succeed with Google’s support, expertise and resources.”

The new role marks Solomon’s return to Google, where she worked as an entrepreneur-in-residence between 2014 to 2016. Solomon successfully founded and exited visual recognition tech startup, PartPic to Amazon, for an undisclosed sum in 2016.

In addition to her role as the head of Google for Startups, Solomon is the managing partner Collab Capital, an investment fund, which connects African-Americans to the financial and social capital. She is also currently featured in a national ad campaign for Pantene’s Gold Series line of natural hair products.
